La Tegola: The real taste of Italy in Cebu
La Tegola Ristorante Italiano: the real taste of Italy in Cebu
I've always been a fan of the island Cebu and, for years, it simply keeps getting better and better. And why is that? There are newly constructed beach resorts, hotels and commercial establishments that releases the overall capacity and future potential of Cebu. And also, the restaurants are sprouting all over that ranges from the authentic food culture of Korean, Japanese, French, Vietnamese, Chinese and, the ever-loved, Italian food.
Here in Banilad, the La Tegola Ristorante Italiano is one of those Italian food cuisines that deliver a great deal when it comes to Italian dishes. It's not just the name, of course, but also what delectable and tasty dishes that are being served here. continue reading » »

Cebu Places: Pasil
Cebu Places: Pasil
One of the famous places in Cebu is not actually found in a certain Cebu travel guidebook, but I can definitely say that it's worth a visit. The place of Pasil is the hub of Cebu's wholesale fish market and this is the place where most Cebuanos often wakes up as early as 3am in the morning to make sure they buy the freshest type of fish from a long and colorful range of aquatic products. Of course, I don't really like the idea of waking up in that time but Pasil is the onlyplace to be when it comes to choosing what type of fish do you like; from the colorful to not, the big or small. Also crabs, shrimps, octopuses, and any other type of seafood, Barangay Pasil delivers as early as before the sunrise. continue reading » »

Notable Cebuanos: Gabriel Abellana
Notable Cebuanos: Gabriel Abellana, artist
One of the most memorable experiences that I had during my college days in University of San Carlos-Technological Center is the time spent with my Fine Arts professors. The relationship between the teachers and the students in Fine Arts is one-of-a-kind and amazingly overwhelming. I can actually say that some of the teachers are fun-loving and I can even tell that they can be just one of those friends that I hang out with, but when it comes to class participation, this is where it becomes the real deal.
One of the Fine Arts teachers and Cebuano Artists that I’m proud of knowing for years is Mr. Gabriel Abellana. For a long time that I’ve known him, he’s probably one of those people that lives in simplicity but has become one of the most significant people in Cebu and in the world of art. continue reading » »

Notable Cebuanos: Sergio Osmeña
Notable Cebuanos: Sergio Osmeña, politician
The renowned Osmeña family in Cebu has a notable family member back during the early days of the Philippine government. In 1944, Sergio Osmeña, also the leader of the Nacionalista Party, became the second President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, right after the death of then-President Manuel QUezon in the same year.
Sergio Osmeña is actually the first member of the Osmeña to ever grace the emblem of Philippine politics. Today, notable Osmeñas are very well renowned in politics, like Cebu’s mayor himself, Mayor Tomas Osmeña; former Senators Lito Osmeña and Sergio Osmeña Jr as well as Sergio Osmena III and former-governor John Henry Osmeña. continue reading » »
