A Cebu Invention

A Cebu Invention

There sure are a lot of technical gadgets and devices like cellular phones, powerful laptops and the Blu-ray discs that sure are making waves in the Cebu market. However, one may consider these as the products of modern technology from people abroad but to Cebuanoas, a creation is simply astounding when a fellow Cebuano is able to provide a certain discovery in today’s innovation. It may not the type of gadget that one can bring to the malls and flaunt it but it sure is one heck of an invention that could spark the overall improvement, not only in Cebu but to the whole Philippines, in the vast field of electricity.

And it’s only a wave away to a bigger improvement.

The inventor

Meet Mr. Noro Camomot, a 45-year-old mechanical engineer, who both conceptualized and invented a certain generator that can produce up to 2.2 kilowatts and can certainly light up 22 lampposts. That certainly is a start right there and a heck of an invention. Mr. Camomot was able to analyze the idea of a wave that can overturn a 60-kilogram individual, and concluded that if a wave can do this then there must be enough power for it to produce electricity.

It was way back in 2005 when Noro Camomot captured the National Invention Contest for his miniature model and idea of the generator. He later on worked hand-in-hand with a long-time friend and retired colonel Mr. Oliver Cejano. Both of them spent about P500,000 to successfully make the device, which is installed at a certain resort in Tabunan, Borbon, Cebu.

The invention

The idea of the invention is to obtain energy from the constant movement of sea waves then converts it into electricity with the usage of a floater. With the floater’s up and down motion, it will then allow the mechanical energy to flow into the power generator. Subsequently, it will charge three batteries as a source of power. And, I said mentioned earlier, it can light up 22 lampposts but it will cost P20 kilowatt per hour. This might be the only flaw but it can be worked out if necessary improvements and funding can be adequately provided.

Mr. Noro Camomot’s wife, Shiony Camomot, was very proud that her husband’s hard work was awarded with excellence on September 29, 2007. And I’m sure the people who have heard this news for a very long-time are very proud of Noro Camomot himself as well as Oliver Cejano and the other nine members of the Visayas Inventor Association.

The whole project has the capability to contribute a bigger percentage in terms 100% electrification not only in Cebu but the whole Philippines as well.

Hello, you are most welcome. We really would want to give our own little contribution to saving mother earth, and to our country of course, through this invention. A bigger one is on the line and it could provide bigger capacity for a renewable energy to be made available for the filipino people.

Of course, we desire the support of our government, local or national, because no matter what nobble the causes are for my brother, and for the filipino, especially visayan, inventors, if they will not get any support from the government, their efforts may be futile.

That is why we are very thankful to your site and other members of the media, and those who showed interest and support through publications like this, because you make our efforts and presence known and felt by the people.

Lastly, i would like to invite your readers and subscribers to view my brother’s invention thru my site joyfulmoon.multiply.com and click NJ-6 SEA WAVE DRIVEN ELECTRIC POWER GENERATOR.

Thank you and more power to us all.
