Location: Calumboyan, Sogod, Cebu

I scheduled a date for my family to go somewhere during one certain weekend since I needed a break and so does my family from the busy streets of urban Cebu. My family actually has their minds set for us to go spend our time in some of the most luxurious beach resorts found in the other island of Lapu-lapu City, but I kind of dejected the idea of doing so. I wanted to experience what Cebu has offer in terms of beaches and its tropical setting and the Alegre Beach Resort came into my mind. After all, we’re only a few meters away from the place and I had to be budget-wise for us to really enjoy the whole thing.

So, I checked our baggages for a weekend relax and headed off to the fantastic location of Alegre Beach Resort. I’ve never been to this spot and, I thought, it’s time for me to try it out since I also did a bit of research about it. Let me break it down for you.

Price wise

I’m not that fond of bringing cash since I don’t want to stuff my wallet with it and I also have a nice butt to simply reject the idea of putting two money-full of wallets on both of the back pockets. Instead, I brought my credit card and found it to be a wise-decision. I also found out that they accept traveler checks for tourists who want to enjoy Alegre Beach Resort.

As I mentioned before, I’m a budget freak, but I realized, what the heck. So I spent about $250-500 in total exploring what Alegre Beach Resort has got. Firstly, they boasted 40 rooms to accommodate guests but then I found out what other features they have:

Room Facilities

So, we rent this room for a not-so-hefty price and once I opened the door, it was like I’m in somebody else’s guest area (which is in fact I am, but you know what I’m talking about) Nice interior and atmosphere. I’m not surprised with the air-conditioning, telephones and cable TV since most high-rated beach resorts I visited has those, but the coffee maker, mini bar and satellite TV made it all new to me. The separate showers made me want to stay for a week as well as the in-house movies. I thought, this is going to be perfect.

Leisure Facilities

I had a 2-hour drive to reach Alegre Beach Resort, so I decided to try out their massage place and it did make me feel very relaxed and comfortable. I need one and I badly need it after all those months of hard work. I saw a golf course, which most people think it’s another way of freeing your mind and concentration but it’s just not my thing. Instead, I joined my family to the swimming pool where it took us 20-25 minutes before my tummy exclaimed for food. Going to our place, I realized they also have a library and tennis court but that’s not what I wanted. I wanted food.

Hotel Facilities

I head off to the shower and rinsed myself but not without ordering my desired dish for the night in their restaurant. They say they have a 24-hour room service so I thought, “I’m going to check that out later.” We dined and I found their food to be a little over than average, tasty enough but it did not satisfy me. I enjoyed the whole ambiance though.

Later on, I did a little tour and found out that they have a baby sitting service, a beauty saloon, shops/boutiques and a car park. “This is actually a family beach resort and it was all a perfect idea from the first place”, I exclaimed. Tourists don’t need to worry if they want to spend their time in Alegre Beach Resort, a travel agency firm can arrange his flight and a shuttle bus is there to help him get to the airport. Plus, a foreign exchange service is available.

Overall

After 2 days and one night, we finally headed home bringing the one of the greatest experiences we ever had. For me, the Alegre Beach Resort could only be one of Cebu’s primary places and, who knows, I could bring my whole office staff and friends to spend the weekend there. No, the whole week.
