Bantayan Island

Location: Bantayan Island, Cebu

I have been planning to just go out and spend a week of my time with my family, or my girlfriend, or my friends in a place where I haven’t tried yet. Actually, I’ve been eyeing this certain island located at the northern part of Cebu, the Bantayan Island.

The island can be reached through a ferry-ride from the Hagnaya Wharf located in San Remigio, Cebu, or if you are traveling from Cadiz, Negros Occidental. This northern tip part of Cebu is actually divided into three major municipalities, which are Bantayan, Madridejos and Santa Fe.

Actually, I am not a fan of too many people crowding the beaches so I’m going to try going there during off-season. However, the summer in Bantayan Island provides a lot of activities since there are more than plenty of people that visits the whole area and even spend more than a day just to see other events that take place. Of course, this is a place where budget-conscious people are likely to go since it is less expensive than the world-famous Boracay. And speaking of Boracay, I’m hoping I can get there someday but that would be another story.

Anyway, the Bantayan Island is often described by visitors as the “boracay of Cebu” since the powdery and white sand beaches added with crystal clear waters are just some of the elements that will actually give you more than just a simple swim but to also try out diving and snorkeling. In addition, dive locations and cave spots are plenty for you to visit.

And I’m sure there’s going to be more than just the descriptions and narrations. All I have to do is to find myself a time, set the date and pack my bags for a well-earned vacation
