Business Process Outsourcing in Cebu

For quite a long-time now, the city of Cebu is able to gear itself towards the progressive line in terms of Business Process Outsourcing, or BPO. I was able to recognize the development at the start of the new millennium but I didn’t exactly noticed that Cebu captured the fourth spot in the top 15 up-and-coming outsourcing hubs for reputable global companies, which is according to a certain industry report.

Here in Cebu, a lot of call center companies have been emerging just out of the blue and there are also those that I didn’t know exist. I actually thought that Manila is ahead of Cebu in Business Process Outsourcing but it’s indeed a great feeling that Cebuanos were able to propel themselves into the midst of overall innovation.

For a new network of outsourcing, I can certainly tell that it’s not that bad at all. Actually, it’s absolutely great indeed that Cebu owns the fourth place in the outsourcing category and that is something that I can really be proud of as a Cebuano.

However, India remains to be the favorite in terms of technology outsourcing regardless of its rising currency and towering wages. The Indian cities Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune are the ones on top in the top 15 Business Process Outsourcing destinations. The complete list of the top 15 sites is as follows:

The future

Now that is something. I can certainly say that with Cebu’s massive potential and the Cebuanos willingness to go all-out pouring themselves into this line of work, Cebu will grab the number one spot sooner or later. I am actually confident that the Business Process Outsourcing in Cebu will still live up to its utmost potential and that there will still be more opportunities to come as well as advantages that can be developed. For sure, among those Third World countries out there, the Philippines have the upperhand since Filipinos can speak  better the English language.

However, this potential can be realized if objectives are set like the following:

• The government should provide more attention in its policy management to keep both the advantage and the fourth slot

• Offer more English classes as well as computer technology courses and other information technology-related programs to provide top-tier pool of employees

• Concentrate not only in Cebu but also in other areas like Bacolod City, Davao City and Cagayan de Oro City; and lastly

• Benefits… benefits…. benefits (just kidding)
