Locating the Army Navy Burger + Burritos Cebu

For the big burger eater, the Army Navy Burger + Burritos is a must try. Months ago, it opened its branch at the Cebu IT Park near the eBlock Tower2 and Skyrise 4 specifically on Padriaga Street cor. Geonzon Street. It is located in a rather hidden place – that part is not as crowded yet so searching for the place is an adventure in itself.

Some say it’s better, some say it can be second to the legendary Cebuano’s lechon but whatever it is, Balamban Liempo is just a heavenly. Its goodness starts even before you eat it – watching it being chopped and its greeny spices and herbsmaking its way out of the meat is already inviting. And when you finally take a bite, you would know it is not just salty – but what?

Zubuchon: The Cebu Lechon with an organic twist

Lechon in Cebu? Nothing really new about, all along, we know that this is the best in the Philippines that people would even have lechon from Cebu shipped because of its unique taste. Yet here comes Zubuchon making the gastronomic lechon even much better.

It is traditional and not. Because of commercialism, many nowadays roast pigs via some mechanical process, yet Zubuchon still uses the usual way of roasting the whole pig in charcoal, thus its rich aroma. They don’t use artificial coloring to achieve a sumptuous look, no MSG, and other alternative spices. The pigs are also not taken from the market but are instead backyard raised and fed. And for that delicious aroma, don’t be surprised, they are from home-grown onions, pepper, lemongrass (tanglad/tangad), sea salt and other herbs and spices.

MyJoy, pioneer in Cebu fast food

The candy-colored theme of MyJoy fastfood is as tasty as it looks. This is a pioneer in the fast food chain industry in Cebu and has been catering to Cebuanos for more than 20 years now even before foreign chains came to the city and divided the market. It calls itself as the “happiest dining destination”.

Happy indeed, it offers a menu that probably has the most number of choices among its counterparts – from regular combo meals, soups and snacks to coolers and beverages including the ever-popular halo-halo special.

Steamed Rice and siomai is the perfect dimsum pair at Dimsum Break but there’s a whole lot more. Just recently for the summer they also launched iced milk tea with black pearl (sago) or nata de coco – refreshing without the guilt.

Carcar Chicharon: A Cebuano’s favorite

You know you have reached the humble city of Carcar as you are welcomed right at its borderline by the familiar, local tone “’Charon, ampao, ‘charon special” – ampao, a variation of sweetened rice crispies and ‘charon’ being short for the much craved Carcar chicharon.

What makes it more special than many of its counterparts? It’s that real pork meat, fat, and skin, deep fried into perfect golden crisp and right salty flavour.

I should say I am a food lover, Burger to be specific with. One day it came to me that the typical fast food burgers were not that satisfying anymore. When I heard about grilled burgers I thought there’s no such place in Cebu to get one of those, Luckily, I was wrong. One of my friends pointed me to Flame It!
