Cebu Restaurants: Rico’s al Trattoria

Cebu Restaurants: Rico’s al Trattoria
How I love eating Italian food! It’s actually one of my top 3 favorites on my list next to, of course, Filipino food. There’s a sense of patriotism though but what can I say? Lechon, humba and others are indeed sumptuous. Italian food is a different taste and it sticks into my mind… and my cravings. continue reading » »
Cebu Restaurants: Sneak peak at Abaca
Cebu Restaurants: Sneak peak at Abaca
Silencing crowds through a sophisticated dish would best describe what sumptuous food is all about. Of course, the ambiance, service and price are the components that would make a restaurant appealing to the customers or not.
In Abaca, which is an exclusive boutique restaurant located in Punta Engaño, provides exciting fresh dishes that will surely make someone drool even if you just show them a picture of a certain serving. Chef Jason Hyatt and Melissa Cannons are behind in what could be the most sophisticated restaurant in Cebu, at least that’s what I know of. However, I wouldn’t consider this as a slight disadvantage since most Cebuanos often find it interesting to know how well fancy restaurants like this fare to their taste. continue reading » »

Cebu Street Treats: Siomai sa Tisa
Cebu Street Treats: The Original Siomai sa Tisa
The city of Cebu is rich in industrial, commercial and local improvement, which is taken from the fact that the metropolis has improved dramatically over the years with the construction of business establishments and better employment record. I, myself, is 100% confident that the Cebuanos have seen and felt this progress over time. However, along with these improvements that we’re talking about, the Cebuano culture has never been left out, especially in the subject of hard work and perseverance and, of course, the ever popular Cebu street treat, siomai sa Tisa.
If you find it a bit confusing, you can –> continue reading » »
Sugbahan: A comprehensive review (part 1)
Sugbahan: Native Filipino Dishes
A comprehensive review
I bet there are hundreds of native restaurants out there, especially in Cebu. Banilad, which is considered as the developmental hub of metropolis Cebu is also a place of abundant grill and fine restaurants. These copious dining establishments are sprouting like mushrooms every now and then that almost every year in Cebu, there are at least five new restaurants that have joined the ocean of competition.
Somewhere in A.S. Fortuna, I visited one of these establishments and it did occur to me that competition is all about surviving in the field of food service. And that you have to do all you can to entice and please each customer/s per day in a relatively pleasant manner. continue reading » »
Cebu Street Treats: Balut
Cebu Street Treats: Balut

Other than the ones that we’ve featured the past week, pongko-pongko, banana q, tempura and others are just some of the “lesser” street treats the Cebu has to offer. But there is one delicacy that surpasses all those goodies and not everybody can actually “stomach” the way it is presented. The Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam are the countries that sell these kind of delicacy on the streets and it does resemble an old way of presenting food during today’s modernization. continue reading » »
Street Treats of Cebu Part 1
Street Treats of Cebu Part 1
Cebu does not only boast beautiful places, beaches and great people but also when it comes to chows or snacks usually sold on the streets. Oh yes, you heard it right. These street treats can be categorized as Cebu’s premiere fast food, only cheaper and you can eat it anywhere and anytime you want.
Tahó
Firs of, let’s start with the Cebu breakfast treat; the tahó. This is also known as the Cebuano version of tofu. You’ll recognize one when you hear a yell that says; “tahooooo!!!” early in the morning. The three main ingredients are the Cebuano tofu itself, a syrup and sago (tiny balls that I think made of gelatin). I usually feel nostalgic when I eat one since it brings me back to my early days. continue reading » »
