Cebu Beach Resorts: Bounty Beach Cocobana Resort
I would not say much about how beautiful Malaspacua Island is since it is an understatement. However, most people would say that there is nothing much about Malapascua but a long-list of diving spots. Actually, when most tourists often look for several Cebu hotels that are on top of their most wanted list, some would like to discover the seaside paradise of Cebu and one of the providers is the Bounty Beach Cocobana Resort.
The humble Cebu beach resort of Bounty Beach Cocobana Resort boasts 23 cottages just across the great view of the sea as well as its beautiful surroundings. Actually, if you want more than any cottage for yourself, you are going to have to find it somewhere else since Cocobana Resort simply provides the basic cottages from the basic ones with a fan to the superior accommodations with air conditioners, television and everything else. Actually, if you are one of those who crave simplicity instead of the grandeur looks of those Cebu beach resorts on the other side of the island, then Cocobana Resort would fit your taste.

Actually, I was intrigued by some Cebu beach resorts that have been in the business for quite a while and has the necessary elements to become one of the excellent beach resorts in Cebu.
First off would be the accommodations. There is nothing much I can say about the room since it did not give any strong impression in me. I saw many people just staring to the beach and pass their time while we decided to take a dip.

Unlike my reviewed uptown Cebu hotels though, Cocobana Resort has a small bar and restaurant located in the middle area. I had fun actually, especially with the availability of food choices in this little Malapascua Island that all you need is a 2-3 minute walk.
As for divers who crave for the Malapascua experience, I would recommend you to visit this beautiful island. The Gato Island is famous for its striking area with all those wreck caves waiting to be explored. If you want to see the rare Hammerhead and Tresher sharks then you can go to Shark Point, where you can also see those Manta Rays. Another diving spot would be the Monad Shoal, which also has incredible sights.
Overall though, I never complained much in Cocobana Resort, but I would not say that it is comparable to some Cebu hotels and beach resorts that I have visited. Actually, I would categorized this part of Malapascua Island as “value=money” kind. For at least $50 for a night along with the fantastic view of the sea and a well-conditioned room, it is actually my kind of Cebu beach resort.
Is it worth coming back? I would say yes, but there are plenty Malapascua beach resort to choose from. Some are affordable, some are not.

Thanks for your candid review. I am looking for a value for money resort in Cebu. Cocobana seems ideal. My friends and I don’t dive so do you think it matters much? We need peace and quiet. Also, we plan to go in August. Do you think it is still good to go during August? Am I right in thinking that typhoons are infrequent in Cebu?
Hoping for your reply.
