Cebu City: 8th ranked Asian City of the Future in 2007
A survey done by the Finance Direct Investment, or fDi, magazine has Cebu City ranked 8th as one of the top 10 Asian Cities of the Future for the year 2007. fDi, a Financial Times Group magazine also has Quezon City and Davao City on their list, as the 7th and 10th ranked cities. This sure is a great recognition and the city of Cebu indeed showed its improvement throughout the years.
In the last ten years, Cebu City has explored overall economic possibilities and has drawn investors abroad. Investors that helped the city witness its potential in commerce. One example would be the list of Cebu properties that boost an array of business opportunities. This resulted into a growing number of Cebu hotels and resorts that caters the local Cebuanos and visitors.
To this, the city of Cebu also ranked 2nd in overall development and promotion, next to first-placer Singapore; 4th most cost-effective cities; and 7th place in the category of Best Quality of Life.
The survey
The United Kingdom-based Foreign Direct Investment magazine contains 60 categories-ranging from economic potential to infrastructure and development and promotion- that were utilized in assessing more than 200, both big and small, cities in Asia. How the judges gathered the important information was by including corporate professionals, self-reliant location consultants, investment experts and economic specialists.
Overall
A high volume of visitors have realized how better the city is already. In tourism, accommodation, reputation and status, Cebu City has the potential to become the top city in Asia. Furthermore, beach resorts in Cebu, tourist spots and luxurious Cebu hotels highlight this feat.
Next up is a long-list of improvement in terms of water and power supply, road and drainage system.
