Totally Cebu

More and more car enthusiasts in Cebu are adhering to their old automobiles. Moreover, these Cebuano car enthusiasts are establishing a gathering at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) on the dates of October 16-21, 2007.

Some of the most notable automobiles that have conquered the streets of Cebu is the 1930s model Volkswagen Beetle. I’m kind of impressed with its unique design that constitutes itself as the "bug" of the streets. However, some people often mistakenly refer the Volkswagen Beetle because of its shape. Because of that most people are still in-love with this type of vehicle and is often handed down from generation to generation.

The classic rides

We often see on movies or television those fancy rides. You know, with those sleek rims, fine details of those decals that give a silky-smooth look of the car and, of course, the speed capability that describes how "speedy" the drivers are. But mostly, vehicle beautification does not necessarily mean that they’re only for modern automobiles. So, what if you put a whole new look to your Beetle, or to your 1960’s Cadillac. It would be great to see these vintage cars being retained to their original yet in tiptop shape that can still provide that ample mileage.

Two groups of car enthusiasts in Cebu that are composed of students, businessmen and professionals are spearheading this year’s Motorshow Cebu International. To them it’s not really about classic car modification but to stay true to its original exterior and interior design. Purists… that should be the word to describe them because I don’t think it’s not all about how cheap, maintainable and available the parts are, it’s not also about having sentimental reasons but, I think, it’s all about being true to something that has provided the classic notion and has continued its presence for years.

It occurred to me that this Motorshow Cebu International is a salute to these classic cars that have been in our lives for years.

I would want to own one too since I’ve always been a fan of a Cadillac. Sure, those newly born speed babies from Ferrari and Lamborghini can make me drool but classic cars are not really far behind.
