Cebu Hospitals: Vicente Gullas Medical Center
I bet you already noticed that I haven’t been able to post for several days now. Well, actually, I had this surgery that requires the need for the inevitable anesthesia and obviously I had to recuperate for days right before I can come up with a sane article for TotallyCebu.
For years, I’ve never been confined in any hospital except in Vicente Gullas Medical Center, or was Vicente Gullas Memorial Hospital. My mother’s been working in this hospital for so very long already. I think, 10-15 years? I’m not sure though but I’m thankful to have been operated here. Why? It’s because I know some of the people here and they are indeed comfy to be around with.
The hospital
Back then, the then-Vicente Gullas Memorial Hospital was simply composed of three buildings; the Medicine Building for Medicine students, the hospital itself along with the kitchen, quarters and others, and the canteen. I can actually remember when me and my family would spend the time in their mini-park, which also has a basketball court.
Recently, the hospital was renamed to Gullas Medical Center, which I suppose is a start of a new dawn, rejuvenation, restoration, and other words that can describe a whole change. I actually thought that they’re going to change the personnel (that includes my mom, a dietitian) but it’s actually an improvement in every corner of the area.
School and hospital
The improvement of the whole Gullas Medical Center was then installed with this huge building which is constructed to accommodate hundreds or thousands of students. This is, of course, one of the most overrated courses for me but it proved to have reshaped the perception of both parents and the students for future’s sake. Even my little sister hopped in the bandwagon.
Today, not only Gullas Medical Center expanded their coverage in the medical venture but they have also invested millions of cash to improve their hospital equipments. Back then, the hospital was rumored to be ineffective when it comes to treating patients because of their lack of available equipments. But now, I can certainly say that they are going all-out now just trailing behind the powerhouses Chong Hua Hospital, Perpetual Succour, and Cebu Doctors Hospital, to name a few.
