Cebu Hotels: Golden Peak Hotel

The recent Mother’s Day celebration has always been considered as one of the highlights in the month of May. I have seen people doing their own thing on how to celebrate this special event; from spending time with their moms or family, cooking together their favorite seafood recipes, to treating their moms for a total makeover or an overnight stay at the hotel.

My lucky mom has always been the bright spot for me and I gave her a preview of about what she will have as her birthday present by treating her, not only an overnight stay, but a three night stay at one of the finest hotels in Cebu; the Golden Peak Hotel in Gorordo Avenue Corner N Escario St., Cebu City.

I made sure my mom and my family would enjoy the stay and not just staying at home cooking for our favorite seafood recipes, so I thought we’d be enjoying our stay in Golden Peak Hotel. We actually stayed on the 10th floor highlighted with an excellent view; the full activity of the city below is one. Room-wise, it was actually neat. Although I would not compare this hotel from the top Cebu hotels that I review, I consider Golden Peak Hotel as someplace where you can check-in for a sudden business trip, or just plain budget-conscious cause.

If you want to know how accessible the Golden Peak Hotel is, it is just 5-10 minutes away from the Ayala Center Cebu and 15-20 minutes to SM City Mall. However, if you want to go just outside, there’s a mini mart there where you can buy some stuff and is open 24 hours.

What I like was the complimentary breakfast for their guests. Their buffet gives you the usual choices though; bacon, egg, fish steak, cereals, corned beef and fruits.

Most hotels in Cebu provide toothpaste and toothbrush for their guests but I guess Golden Peak Hotel is cutting costs, so I’m going to let that pass. Shampoo, toilet paper and soap are given and additional supplies are provided upon request.

I also saw guests that brought their family with them to commemorate Mother’s Day and it gave the impression about how mothers are really good in taking care of things. I greeted the lady “Happy Mother’s Day”, right after she delivered some fresh towels since we requested for hotel housekeeping. Plus, our room was always cleaned before every 9am.

The only snag in Golden Peak Hotel is some of its interior are worn out, especially the carpets. Though I would understand that the hotel might just be getting old but if they really want to stay along with the finest hotels in Cebu, Golden Peak Hotel should start improving their interiors.

Some Cebu hotels normally make me spend time during check-outs, but Golden Peak Hotel took me about 20 minutes.

If you are thinking about getting here in Golden Peak Hotel and Suites from the Cebu International Airport, metered-taxies charge for $3-4 depending on the traffic.

Overall though, Golden Peak Hotel and Suites is one fine Cebu hotel that I could categorize as the hotel for business-minded people who are always on the go and for those who are budget-conscious. As for us, we enjoyed our 3-day stay and with the essence of simplicity in there, it’s worth another visit.
