Cebu Malls: A mall to rise at Asiatown IT Park
Cebu Malls: A mall to rise at Asiatown IT Park
For years, SM City, Ayala Center, Gaisano stores, BTC (Banilad Town Center) and others have relinquished their dominance in the shopping and entertainment industry here in Cebu. Now, there is going to be another one of those big establishments which is set to rise in the former site of The Village.
This is not that surprising for me at all since the whole IT Park is filled with Business Project Outsourcing and IT-related companies plus hundreds, or thousands, of employees. In the news, the Cebu Property Ventures and Development Corporation (CPVDC) have allocated a hefty amount of P760milliion for the proposed entertainment center and another business process outsourcing building.
The mall
The entertainment mall will cater to thousands of business process outsourcing employees. For quite sometime now, I have visited the site where it’s becoming a bigger structure day by day and is expected by to be finished before the end of the year. The structure is set to provide high-end retail outlets, coffee shops, food establishments as well as beauty and wellness hubs not just for the employees but may also be for other shoppers and avid customers as well. This is, of course, another improvement in Cebu that will send message across the globe that we’re indeed capable of making it into the high levels of international venture.
The BPO building
CPVDC president Francis Monera also revealed that there is going to be another BPO building that is on its way to be constructed. The P700-million worth structure will gain its hold right next to the Skyrise building. This nine-story establishment boasts a 26,000-meter area capable of handling several business process outsourcing firms that should provide interests in Cebu.
The BPO building is set to be finished next year before and after September 2008.
This is so since there is also the increasing demand for more business process outsourcing buildings. For this, a proposed plan for the five-hectare property in IT Park will provide realization for more IT-related and internationally acclaimed companies that are willing to do business here in Cebu.
A bright future
Furthermore, Monera indicated that there is a strong factor that the Asiatown IT Park will continue to draw more investors in the coming years. This is so since a lot of offices have been already catered to some investors ahead of time.
This is indeed a bright future for Cebu and for the Cebuanos as well as powering itself to becoming the premiere business epicenter of the Philippines.
