Cebu Schools: Cebu Doctor’s University and UC (2 of 3)
The second two of the most fast-rising universities in Cebu are actually the first two choices I have when I was thinking about going to college. The University of Cebu is close to my home and I was thinking about taking information technology course while Cebu Doctor’s University is for Nursing or Medicine. Anyway, here’s the two of them:
University of Cebu
Arguably the most improved university in today’s Cebu. UC started its journey into quality education way back in 1964 and is presently one of the respected and reputable schools complementing their five available campuses here in Cebu, namely, UC-Banilad, UC-Mandaue and Lapulapu, and UC-Mambaling.
University of Cebu has amassed a long list of maritime courses and programs that are available for Cebuanos and those outside of Cebu. Of course, the current courses are also accredited to their different levels of accreditation as well as major developments along the way. One of which is the “bridging program” that UC is trying to accomplish for the graduates of courses Electrical or Mechanical Engineering who wishes to engage in Marine Engineering.
Currently, University of Cebu is known for its wide arrays of developments in the maritime department and has aimed itself towards bringing in more marine engineers without having to sacrifice other courses along the process. Moreover, quality education has already been seen when a group of UC instructors flew to Korea to observe how the country’s animation industry is thriving and could be an indication of another program that is going to be available in the following years.
Cebu Doctor’s University
The thing about Cebu Doctor’s University, or Cebu Doc as many of Cebuanos refer it to, is its overall hold as one of the solid universities in Cebu. It has redefined its idea of giving both quality education and leisure to its students since it relocation to the North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City. The new Cebu Doc features a new type of building that would be considered as a step towards the future of the whole campus.
The multi-million peso infrastructure has a huge space that would make the Cebu International Convention Center envious with its overall interior and advanced facilities. Moreover, the concept of the building is millennium-based, which is mostly considered as the future of Cebu architecture.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Cebuanos refer the new Cebu Doctor’s University as the most fancy university of them all, just taking the fact of its four available elevators with 40 laboratories and 60 classrooms available for that excellent education.
Other than those specifications, future plans for the new Cebu Doc include a dormitory, Internet café for students, multi-function facility as well as an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Now that’s pleasure and quality education that some is looking forward to.
